For two days, network members as well as Noé's historical partners in the region were able to share their experiences, views and learn from other participants during participatory workshops: implementation and sustainability of Conservation Agreements, community entrepreneurship, private sector involvement in production agreements.
A field trip was then organised to talk to members of the Murugu-Mognori Community Resource Management Area (CREMA), to visit the organic shea butter production centre on the edge of the Molé National Park and to learn about the steps that have led to the development of ecotourism in the area.
The organising team did not forget the importance of learning from past failures: participants shared the difficulties encountered in implementing and sustaining certain initiatives. This was a great moment of hindsight and learning.
The efforts of our team in Ghana to create strong partnerships with the private sector in strengthening pro-biodiversity value chains were praised. Indeed, Noé received the 'Private Sector Engagement Award' from the Conservation International team at the closing session of the event.
