Protecting spaces

PROVIDE SOLUTIONS TO PROTECT EXISTING OR FUTURE SECONDARY SPACES.

CONTEXT OF OUR INTERVENTION AND AMBITIONS

Noé's main aim is to support secondary protected areas, including protected areas under community management but also protected areas mandated by private operators (areas of hunting interest and forest concessions) in preserving and restoring their biodiversity.

In close synergy with Parcs de Noé, this mission also works on primary protected areas (national parks/reserves) that do not yet have a management delegation agreement with Noé.

OUR AMBITIONS FOR NATURAL AREAS ARE TO :

  • Support the creation and management of secondary protected areas.
  • Support national parks or nature reserves that are not yet willing to sign a management delegation agreement.
  • Support the restoration and management of secondary protected areas.
  • Develop or restore ecological corridors between different protected areas, using different management methods.
  • Develop tools for community governance of natural resources on the periphery of protected areas with enhanced management status (park, reserve) or around biodiversity hotspots without status, within the legal framework.
  • Encourage private stakeholders who have an impact on biodiversity through their practices and land holdings (hunting areas, forest concessions) to incorporate biodiversity conservation measures to promote a certain degree of ecological connectivity (OECM: other effective area-based conservation measures).
